The Firex 499 relay module connects Firex smoke alarms to lights, sirens, exit signals, escape lights, exhaust fans, and other AC powered auxiliary devices and enables the different devices to interact. The 499 can turn lights on when a Firex smoke alarm is activated and off when deactivated. The relay is compact and will fit in most junction boxes. The Firex 499 replaces one smoke alarm load in an interconnected string.
Fits all Firex® Smoke Alarm nos. 406, 484, 41216 and all auxiliary devices to be activated should be 120 Volt 60Hz 5 Amps maximum or 28 VDC 5 Amps minimum.
WARNING: This relay will not operate without continuous AC power. DO NOT USE with battery backup units.
CAUTION: Do not interconnect this relay module 0499 to Models FXW-1A, FX1014, FX1020, FX1106 or any other manufacturers units. Doing so will permanently damage the relay.

NOTE: The Relay Module is not recommended for use with automatic dialers or security alarm panels. Also, the 0499 Relay Module is not to be used as a method of extending the maximum number of smoke alarms permitted in multiple station operation. (Refer to Smoke Alarm Manuals for specified maximum limits.) Each Relay Module replaces one Smoke Alarm load in an interconnected string. Therefore: Use of the relay reduces the maximum number of interconnected Smoke Alarms by one.
