The Firex 4518 Smoke Alarm is an ionization 120V AC smoke alarm with battery back-up for single or multiple station use. It includes a False Alarm Control™ feature which allows the user to quiet an unwanted alarm for up to 15 minutes. The 4518 has an 85 decibel horn, test switch and separate lighted power and alarm LED indicators; the green ”power on” LED confirms constant AC power and the red LED displays alarm/battery status.

Firex developed the False Alarm Control™ feature to quiet unwanted alarms as a safety precaution to discourage users from removing the battery during a non-threatening alarm. It meets building code requirements where DC battery back-up is required and is recommended for all smoke alarm installations to provide added fire protection in the event of a power failure. With safety features such as battery ”lock-out” and the tamper-resistant locking pin as well as state-of-the-art production testing equipment, the Firex 4518 provides superior fire protection and convenience.

This unit mounts to any single or 4” octagon junction box or square-to-round drywall ring and has 8” long pigtails with a Quick Connect harness for permanent connection. The 4518 is interconnectable up to 18 units, 6 of which may be Firex heat alarms. When interconnected with other Firex smoke alarms, the unit that initiates an alarm will display a rapidly flashing red LED while the other interconnected alarm LEDs remain extinguished. This Firex unit should be placed in single-family households or in each individual living unit of multiple-family buildings.
