Protect your home, business, and community with carbon monoxide detectors and alarms.
Carbon Monoxide Detectors. Properly working carbon monoxide detectors can provide an early warning before the deadly gas builds up to a dangerous level. Each home should have at least one carbon monoxide detector in the area outside individual bedrooms.
NOTE: We believe that carbon monoxide detectors are as important to home safety as a smoke detector.
Sources of Carbon Monoxide: Incomplete oxidation during combustion in gas ranges and unvented gas or kerosene heaters may cause high concentrations of Carbon monoxide in indoor air. Worn or poorly adjusted and maintained combustion devices (e.g., boilers, furnaces) can be significant sources, or if the flue is improperly sized, blocked, disconnected, or is leaking. Auto, truck, or bus exhaust from attached garages, nearby roads, or parking areas can also be a source. Common household appliances such as gas clothes dryers, water heaters, ovens and ranges produce carbon monoxide. A charcoal grill operating in an enclosed area or a fire burning in a fireplace also produce carbon monoxide.
Health Effects of Carbon Monoxide Exposure: Acute effects are due to the formation of carboxyhemoglobin in the blood, which inhibits oxygen intake. At low concentrations, carbon monoxide can cause fatigue in healthy people and chest pain in people with heart disease and at higher concentrations, impaired vision and coordination; headaches; dizziness; confusion; nausea. Carbon monoxide poisoning causes flu-like symptoms that clear up after leaving home. Very high concentrations of CO exposure can be fatal.
NOTE: Carbon Monoxide Detectors are NOT A REPLACEMENT for proper use and maintenance of your fuel-burning appliances.

First Alert BRK offers a complete selection of carbon monoxide alarms (sometimes called detectors) designed to meet the specific requirements of many different locations and potential dangers.
Kidde Firex Nighthawk offers a complete selection of carbon monoxide alarms (sometimes called detectors) designed to meet the specific requirements of many different locations and potential dangers.
Currently no wireless carbon monoxide alarms available.
Hardwire carbon monoxide detector units are powered by wiring the alarm directly into a household's AC power supply at a junction box. Wire in type carbon monoxide detectors are permanently installed to prevent tampering.
The 9 Volt and AA battery operated carbon monoxide detectors are easier to install and can be placed anywhere.
A plug-in carbon monoxide detector unit is designed to directly plug into a standard 120-volt electrical outlet for simple installation and requires no annual battery replacement.
Alarm Accessories for Carbon Monoxide detectors and alarms are valuable auxiliary relays and adapters designed to enhance the functionality of your carbon monoxide detector.
